Nationality: East German Affiliation: Nationale Volksarmee (Hannibal Battalion) Rank: Oberleutnant (1st Lt.) TSF: MiG-21 Balalaika Major Hannibal’s second-in-command. Marai lost her lover on the battlefield a year before the events of the story, and found comfort in Hölzer, who had experienced the same, to forget the sadness she felt. Marai is willing to protect Hannibal with her life.
